Tax Credit for Aid to Women Center
Aid to Women Center is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit charitable organization. We rely on the generosity of our donors to allow us to serve the needs of the women coming to us for help.
Aid to Women Center qualifies for the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit, also known as the Contributions to Qualifying Charitable Organizations. What this means for you is that you can give to Aid to Women Center at no cost to you.
A tax credit is a dollar-for-dollar reduction on the income tax you owe. Tax credits reduce the amount of income tax you owe on your Arizona Tax Return. For example, if you owe $1,200 in state taxes and have donated $800 to Aid to Women Center, you are eligible for an $800 tax credit, and your net liability drops to $400.
There are four available tax credits in Arizona:
Qualifying Charitable Organization
Private School Tuition Organization
Public School Extracurricular
Military Family Relief Fund
You can get full credit for each of these funds. You do not have to pick between them. If you are already getting credit for the public or private school tax credit donation, don't worry: you can give to both and still take full credit all contributions.
The Arizona Charitable Tax Credit for Charitable Organizations has recently doubled. This means that married taxpayers can get up to $800 in AZ Tax Credit when you donate to Aid to Women Center while single taxpayers can get up to $400 in AZ Tax Credit. This new law also extends the deadline for contributions to April 15th of the following year. This means that April 15, 2017 is the deadline to donate for the 2016 tax year.
Please consider donating to Aid to Women Center. You can give $800 as a couple or $400 individually and get it all back when you file your 2016 Arizona Taxes.
How does the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit work?
Make a donation to Aid to Women Center. When filing your taxes, be sure to list the amount to you donated, as well as Aid to Women Center as the Qualifying Charitable Organization.
Will I be refunded if I donate more than the maximum allowable amount?
You will only get credit on your taxes for up to the maximum allowable amount.
Is there a limit to how much I can donate or how much credit I can receive?
There is no limit on how much you can donate!
The maximums for tax credits were recently doubled. Now, a maximum credit of $400 can be claimed by taxpayers who file as "single" or "married filing separate." A maximum credit of $800 may be claimed by taxpayers who file as "married filing jointly."
What is the last day I can donate and still receive credit on my taxes?
The deadline to donate is April 15 of the following year. For example, April 15, 2017 is the last day to donate for the 2016 tax year.
How do I get a tax receipt from Aid to Women Center?
Please let us know that you have made a donation to Aid to Women Center and we will send you a letter in January via email that will serve as your tax receipt.
I am already donating to a school for that tax credit. Can I donate to both?
Yes! AZ State Taxpayer laws allow you to make donations under all possible tax credit types, and receive the maximum amount of credit for all. This means that you can donate to a school and to Aid to Women Center and still receive maximum credit for both of your donations.
What forms do I need?
You will need to complete both Form 301 and Form 321, available on the Arizona Department of Revenue website to receive credit for your donations.
